On June 22, China Telecom¡¯s first disaster recovery service center was opened for business in Chengdu, Sichuang Province. This is also the first disaster recovery service center and sample disaster recovery equipment room ever established by a telecom operator at home.

In past few years, the man-made and natural disasters as represented by September 11 terrorist attack and tsunami in the Indian Ocean dealt a devastating blow to some industries, so do they pose a new challenge to information security. As economic and social informationization is ever on the upswing, it has now become a crucial subject facing the whole society on how to guard against the threats of diverse natural disasters and emergency events to various industries and build an information security system, especially when there is a tendency for the gathering of data in huge amount.
The first disaster recovery center that China Telecom built by exploiting fully the resources advantages in network, technology and talents will offer total solutions and servicing for disaster recovery involving infrastructure service, network system service, data storage service, data processing service, disaster recovery drilling and recovery service, consultation service and value-added service so as to help customers achieve data security and unblocked traffic in the event of natural disaster and emergency events and ensure all facets of services and servicing run reliably in the informationized society.
The launch of the first disaster recovery center by China Telecom will greatly facilitate information resources integration for China Telecom¡¯s customers and boosts tremendously the security, integrity and availability of the customer¡¯s information system as well as elevating informationization level across Sichuang Province and even across the West, so as to lay down a solid information guarantee basis for the strategic deployment of a strong industrial province.
